I keep looking at this forum and see Ross, Stern, Berkely, AEM Cornell mentioned continously but no mention for UT? Granted I did not get into the business honors program there, but looking at their stats (Avg. SAT: 1480, Avg. Rank 1.6%) that's almost Wharton status, and I feel content with going to the regular McComb program which has slightly worse stats than BHP. Is it that there is less connections later after finishing the program or do recruiters seriously skip over UT over Ross and Stern even though some majors are ranked higher?

I'm rather partial to it since I'll be heading there in the fall :)

recruiters value McCombs very highly. it is recruited by most of those prestigious investment banks/consulting firms.

however, recruiters don't look at specific ranks. (OSU's undergrad ranks very high in finance, yet it doesnt get recruited, Gtown gets recruited heavily even though its rank sucks) Recruiters hire people from a certain school, see how they perform and evaluate the school based on these grads' performance. If these kids do fantastic jobs, the firm would hire more from the school. if they don't, the firm will be reluctant to hire. But seriously, no one SKIPS over UT over Ross/Stern...

One factor that contributes to the fact that people don't mention UT as often as the others is that UT lacks in overall prestige. Lots of people on CC value the overall prestige of a school highly, so they wouldn't apply for UT even if it's got great business program. if they dont apply, they don't talk about it on the board.
