What does the UCLA regents scholarship entail?

I read the website info, but I am still confused as to why it is so prestigious. Would scholars get first pick at classes? I see that housing is guaranteed both years. Any info on this? I know I may not get the scholarship, but and details would be great!

2000 bucks, priority enrollment, a parking spot, Regents Society membership (prestige), and unspecified need based monetary aid.

They say it is prestigious because its highly selective. Only about 1000 freshman and 600 transfers are invited, out of the 96,000 that have applied to the school, and of those 1600, only about 100 are actually selected. That means that the award goes to the top .1% of the applicant pool. Prestigious meaning inspiring respect and admiration; having high status. It seems like that makes sense.

As far as benefits, you get 2k + any extra money need as determined by the FAFSA. You also get preferential enrollment (so yeah, you get to choose classes earlier than most) as well as parking privileges and guaranteed housing, and so forth.

Only 100? Damn. I don’t want to get my hopes too high at this point.

Is it really only 100 out of 1300 invitees that win the scholarship? Man that sucks

No need to make a new thread. You could’ve asked this in the UCLA Regents thread…

@ocnative. Who cares. It’s not a big deal.
