What does your status page say? 2.0

Haha something is different about my application...I just want to know if it's a good different or a bad different. I just know I'm one of very few to get a status update on the 21st and not get accepted.

bmwguy -- S is still the same as you and (I'm assuming) Baseballbrown. The optimist in me says they processed it quickly for a Marshall Scholarship. The pessimist thinks he got dinged for not sticking to the essay prompt and tossed in the reject pile. Truth is probably way more random than either scenario, though. USC is his first choice, money would be nice...

Does anyone know how long it stays in admission committee? And after they make their decision do we hear back soon or do we all wait until later march? Cuz lots of our status moved to being reviewed by admission committee yesterday so does that mean we all find out pretty soon?

^I hope so, but I'm not counting on it. lol!

bmwguy and SoCalGal09: Yes I got the "no scholarship" letter and still have the same as you from 1/21. I would love to know what it means for us...

SoCalGal: What is the Marshall scholarship? I didn't see that one on the scholarship page.

I read it in another thread:
<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/651287-there-more-scholarships.html#post1061807404%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/651287-there-more-scholarships.html#post1061807404</a></p>

SoCal and Baseball...what school did you apply to?

I'm half Marshall half Viterbi

how can you be half Marshall and half Viterbi?

I'm 100% Viterbi. lol

Business (Accounting as 2nd choice)

I applied to the Computer Science and Business Administration major.

At first I thought it was mainly Viterbi, but I realized I really have no reason for thinking that.

Letters, Arts and Sciences

Is there anyone whose status changed from "prelim review" to "being reviewed by admission committee" in one of the earlier acceptance waves who can answer this quick question? How long after getting this "being reviewed" status update did you receive the acceptance in the mail? or how many days were there between the app. status update and the postmark date of the acceptance? just wondering, assuming some of us are to be accepted during the next wave, when should we expect something in the mail? (most of our statuses updated to "being reviewed" this past sunday/monday)

when is the next wave?

Looking back through last years status thread, the next wave seems to be in the first days of March.

Darn it...just got my no scholarship letter in the mail yesterday.

does getting the status change mean we got accepted?

no it's not that easy...
I talked to someone at USC about the status change... it's just a standard message of our application review. But I guess it is one step closer from hearing... though it definitely does not mean we are accepted (unfortunately)

Well, I figured it would be a standard step that doesn't imply acceptance, but did they mention that this would be the final wave that waits until April or an earlier one that hears back in mid-March, perhaps?

I was hoping that I would get some info out of them, but the lady that answered the phone seemed pretty disinterested. All she really said was that it's a standard message and my application is being reviewed. So if our apps are being reviewed, I guess that means we could hear in the next wave that typically comes out the beginning of March. I don't really know how they differentiate who to accept when... but I guess we can just hope to hear soon!
