Everybody knows that Stern and Tisch are the best schools that NYU offers. But is NYU good at anything else? What about the lesser known schools(CAS, Steinhardt, Poly...). I'm asking this because I'm interested in CAS but I haven't heard anything good recommendations.

NYU Has the top applied math program in the world according to many rankings. Their economics department is also excellent.

In addition to the math and econ departments, NYU is also home to one of the top philosophy departments in the country. Many majors involving Media and Communications are also very highly regarded at NYU. The Political Science students are successful, as are the Computer Science students. Being in the city helps a lot when networking and applying for internships. Also a hidden gem within CAS is the Physics department. Not many people major in Physics in NYU, but those who complete it are some of the most successful graduates in the country. Generally speaking, choosing NYU is often a great choice for the undecided student, because the school is so highly regarded in nearly all fields.
