What Exactly Do the Emails and Letters Mean?

I am sure every highschool student who has taken either the SAT or PSAT has given their information to the college board.

The result of this is a large amount of email and letters in the postal mail.

My question is : If a school sends you a letter or an email, what exactly does that mean?

I have recieved letters from all different kinds of schools. I can't tell if these letters are coming because of my scores, and the colleges that send them genuinely want me to apply, or if it is all just some scheme.

They want you to apply. They probably sent the same thing to everyone else in your score range and other score ranges. Doesn’t mean you’d be accepted, just that you might be.

They’re generic. It’s exciting getting them, and you will of course be accepted to some, but it doesn’t mean that a college wants you (yet).

The really interesting thing is that a handful of schools will write to you (or email you, or both) over and over. It got to the point where I almost felt as if my kid was really hurting the University of Kentucky’s feelings.

So true, Sikorsky. I recommend using the unsubscribe feature early and often.
