My family and I live 3 and some change hours away from main where my kid will be going in the fall. Her advising day is tomorrow and my husband and I will be leaving a certain time to get there. I just wanted to know is it imperative for us to get there at 7 am or can we get their around 8?

There is a line to get ID pics taken, e mail account setup etc. I think the ‘presentations’ start at 8:30, if I remember right. But don’t forget you need to park etc. Spend the $1 an hour and park in the HUB garage. You can always get your id pic taken at lunchtime.

We were there that same day! Just returned from there and a follow on vacation on the Outer Banks. Surely wish our trip was only three hours and change. We made the venture from our home somewhat near Memphis, TN and it was a haul. We got into State College about 4 PM on the day before and were able to get the ID card and email account activated. I took the opportunity to do the complete loop from the Nittany Lion Inn to Beaver Stadium down Park Ave, south to College Ave and back east. I did the lower part a few times while snapping photos and looking for a place to eat. I finally “settled” on Five Guys because I had eaten there before (southern Indiana location). Wish I had armed myself with some reviews of Italian eateries. My wife, soon to be PSU frosh, and soon to be high school SOPH did Ristorante Rotelli and were not impressed. I was happy I let them go on their own on that. Actual FTCAP day went okay after I hiked back from the HUB to the Nittany Lion Inn to retrieve the daughter’s assignments (which she forgot to carry along). We learned some good stuff as parents during the morning session, but not anything which we did not or could not find out online. The current PSU student which spoke did enlighten us on a few topics which made it worthwhile for the morning. My daughter did take advantage of her morning session to switch from the Liberal Arts College (originally Psychology major) into the Ag Sciences College and a toxicology or immunology degree (for now).

Looking forward to parents weekend and a return to what I think is a great college town!
