What got YOU accepted??

I was just wondering... What was the single thing (or things) that really got you into the Stanford acceptance pile?

Hmm, I don’t think the Stanford adcoms actually let us know…

well ok im sorry i ment what do you THINK got you in?

did you go to admit weekend, skyraptor? because at the “picnic with the adcoms” activity, everyone got the opportunity to meet their adcom face to face. so, naturally, we all asked him why we got in when we got the opportunity! : ) So that was really cool. But he also was able to answer a lot of questions we all had about the admissions process and what he likes and doesn’t like to see.

^no, i didn’t b/c at that time i was still on stanford’s wait-list (but i wish i COULD have gone. my friend who went said he had a lot of fun.

but the stanford representative for my region DID come to visit my school this june and it was really cool to meet him (he was amazingly cool and laid-back and friendly)

i wish my representative had visited my school =O

InvisibleMan023, to answer your original question, looking back, i’d have to say my essays were the strongest aspect of my application (my grades were pretty good, but my test scores and extracurriculars were fairly mediocre).

1) I’m gay 2) I wrote some pretty sweet essays

The profile picture I sent in. They asked for one and I must say it was quite a good picture.

did you have any clothes on?

if you can hear me, please ban asian75, and delete his posts. he is a ■■■■■.

kthnxbye.

@ ngolsh314: don’t be hater because i dun like FroSoCo. It was a serious question

uh-huh. serious question. don’t think we’re fools asian. you posted. you can’t take it back.

I didn’t wanna take it back. It was a serious question

this was a waste of a read for someone looking to get accepted

haha i think thats mostly because there is no single attribute that gets anyone accepted to any decent school.

yeah thats true. quick question though, what were your high school stats (gpa/sat/act/EC’s/blahblahblah).

Ngolsh, if you’re a jack of all trades and a master of none, then it is viewed badly. Ppl are basically required to be really good at one or two of things. while i do understand it is a holistic process, there has to be something that makes an applicant say: wow that really boosted my chances or wow that pretty much help got me in.
