What happens if I don't get into the Foster School of Business?

I'm a little paranoid that I might not get into the Foster School of Business, what happens if I don't get in? Would I have wasted a bunch of time and money trying to get a business degree or can I still graduate with one? I don't know how this works.

You just apply again later. There are multiple application periods.

Do you need to be in the business school to get a degree in business administration?

How often does someone spend two years in college just to find out that they have been denied admission into their department? Do you change after that or keep at it?

Yes, all the business majors are competitive and you need to be accepted into the program to actually graduate with a business degree. The programs are very competitive (3.5+ GPA or higher) and many people have to try more than once to get in. If you’ve tried 2 or 3 times to get in but haven’t been accepted, you should probably consider other majors; however, some people keep trying and eventually get in anyways. It depends how important it is to you.

The 3.5 GPA you mean is cumulative not the pre-req, right? My cumulative GPA is 3.23 after taking Chem 142 and Math 125 first quarter, leading to a 2.60 fall quarter GPA. My second quarter I was able to get a 3.79 GPA, including a 3.7 pre-req GPA since I got a 3.7 in Econ 200 and Engl 198. Hopefully I’m okay…
