Does our GPA get affected?

no-but it shows up as np on your transcript and you receive no units towards your degree for it unless yoou retake it and pass

YEah basically, all that happens is that you don’t get any benefits for graduation due to it. I know at least one friend who hated a class, didn’t go, failed, and ended up going to a top graduate school. Just don’t fail classes in your major, because that legitimately could be a problem, unless you have a very good excuse!

so if I get an NP on a decal course, it isn’t really that extremely bad as getting NP’s on major courses?

you shouldn’t be p/nping a major course in the first place.

Hi, I’m taking cs 3s right now and am definitely getting a NP this semester because I haven’t done literally anything… is this bad for grad school? I don’t know what I’m going to major in yet, but definitely not CS! I only took the class as a sort of experiment to see what CS was like, and know now that I definitely hate it.

■■■, np

that was me fall 08 frosh year-i am just so glad i p/np-ed cs-3s -there is no help from the tutors for that class at the self-paced center-i did it just to get a feel for it too and i hated it lol

i got a np :(

how does it affect you if you apply to med schools?

i heard grad schools factor into gpa while med schools dont but still frown upon it-im hoping they forgive mine since i was a stupid trying to be bad a s s taking a cs course…lol

an advisor told me that law schools count np as a F. True?

yeah thats what i heard-not sure if true tho

@ waiting4college: yeah, the self-pace center sucks. its always so crowded and i can never get any help even with the really basic stuff. when i ask how to program stuff in emacs they look at me like im an idiot but im like w t f i cant do this stuff.

im glad i got the experience of cs because now i know for sure that i hate it.

so np = F for grad school? well this sucks…

only for law school it does

oh, ok do you know for b-schools? im looking far down the line here but does that only apply for law/med schools?

oh god…emacs-that thing was like ancient-no one even uses it today in the programming world apparently. go figure…oh and i only took it for the minimum 1 unit or whatever-you should change the units if you still can- just thought i would add that

i didnt know how many units i did when i signed up and i just checked and im doing 4 units !!! FMLasdifasdfhadsfhsdaf

can you not change the units anymore either or has the deadline passed? awwwwww that sucks :(

but atleast you changed it to p/np-i realized right after the drop-deadline i didnt care to do the work for the class so i switched it to p/np and basically didnt do anymore work for the class so i could atleast focus on the other 18 units i was taking

i cant change units anymore fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

yea thank god i changed to p/np. at this point im not even going to do anymore work because it’s just not worth it.

is it 4x worse to np a 4 unit class than a 1 unit class? or does it not make a difference?
