With all the stories about colleges sending out acceptance letters to students who are not actually admitted, what happens if they withdraw their other applications? Say College #1 is their first choice school, and the student gets an email that they were admitted. Student is so excited that he immediately withdraws apps from all other schools. A day or two later, the student finds out he/she wasn’t admitted. What happens then - can withdrawn apps be reinstated?
There is no requirement or agreement to withdraw applications unless one has a confirmed ED admission with a workable financial aid offer (if needed). So don’t be in too much of a rush to withdraw applications in other circumstances.
I’ve wondered this too myself. I’d think that they absolutely would be reinstated given a quick correction notification time… but that’s just a total guess on my part. Would love to know the answer.
sue them lol
You would contact those colleges and ask to be reinstated, explaining why. No problems there.
I guess some schools(cough…Ivy’s…) would be quite ticked off to know they are not your first choice, they are very protective that way.
Suing them on the other hand seems a viable option
