Ari, I don't understand your point. I didn't say you couldn't criticize my opinion. Someone is defensive. You can criticize it all you want, but it's like telling someone that they're stupid for loving chocolate instead of vanilla. It's senseless.

My opinion isn't poorly constructed. I've been to SoCal plenty of times. Everyone has a different perspective. Your example of the EU is irrelevent.. you're comparing a matter of perception and feeling to stating wrong facts.

I'm well aware that not all of SoCal is Hollywood... but that's the general feeling for me. Even my friends/relatives born/raised in SoCal admit the culture is very different. Some like it... others don't.

And yes, I've been to San Diego. And no, it's not the same as the OC or LA. I just don't like it for different reasons. It too has a unique culture and vibe that I don't mesh with.

I don't care if you think me not liking SoCal is silly or uneducated. shrug

And don't get me wrong either, SoCal is fun to visit, too. I just wouldn't want to live there. And I'm not saying one is "better" than the other... I just like one more. Again, this is what perception/feeling/opinion is.

Pennant winning? No. There hasn't been a pennant win out of California since San Francisco did it in 2002. Major team? Yes, but I'm going to have to assume its presentation is similar to that of Anaheim's.

Also, there's Oakland... which is kind of a NorCalized version of Anaheim (game presentation wise).

By the way, I knew that the Angels were the Anaheim Angels. Now they're the Anaheim Southern California Los Angeles Angeles of Anaheim in Los Angeles, but not Really.

Actually, I'm just kidding. The only thing I know for certain that the Dodgers have more of than the Giants is World Series appearances (and a slightly better winning record, with .333).

Other than that, they're pretty even ballclubs. But when are you guys gonna win a trophy, huh?

Yeah, and the Dodgers are going to beat the Yanks.

Either way, I think that both Nor Cal and So Cal offer different things, but that saying one is better than the other borders on fallacy/fiction. That was really my only point.

Plus, collegemom still hasn't explained why a bigger campus = a better school.

^ That post doesn't even deserve a response, coming from someone who didn't know the Angels play in Anaheim or that a pennant is not a World Series trophy. :)

I get your point, UCLAri, but IN MY OPINION I like NorCal better. Therefore, in my eyes, NorCal > SoCal. The end.

Let me clarify why I would choose Davis: I just think they have a better Japanese program. Both are equal in terms of poli sci (good, not great), so that's a non-issue.
