What I hate about BS dorms

I was reading an old post of @Golfgr8 about Deerfield and she posted a video so I started watching and then I got sucked down a rabbit hole. I hate those auto closing, loud slamming fire doors that they have in dorms. They make it so much less home like and nice.

@one1ofeach - Wow! I must have boarding school parent amnesia because I totally forgot I even posted a video about the dorm. The bright side was, there was no place to go but up and the following year kiddo got the Ritz Carlton of dorms.

BTW - what has been the feedback or “chatter” from Day students who have had the opportunity to live on campus this year?

That didn’t happen for us. There was no room because they were trying to space out kids who were in triples. :weary:

Which dorm is the Ritz? And what is the best girls upper dorm at DA?

That is a personal preference…IMHO the most physically pleasant dorms are “new dorm” AKA “Margaritaville” for boys and “JL” for girls. There are some rooms in some of the dorms that look like old houses on campus that are interesting - even charming - they vary greatly in size. Some dorm buildings are smaller and have a close knit community.

There are 2 dorms comprising the Freshman Village - these dorms have different wings (girls & boys) with a big common area for gatherings…and the school has been talking about building new ones in the future. The thinking was/is to keep all the Freshman together so they bond.
