Due to my own negligence on forgetting to submit certain requirements, My school never ended up disbursing my pell grant. Now my question is that does it still count towards my total LEU (Lifetime Eligibility Used) Eventhough I never ended up receiving it?
Thank you!!
I doubt it, but check with your FinAid Office to be sure.
Are you talking bout a previous academic year…or the one beginning now?
@thumper1 previous academic year
No, it won’t count against you unless it was actually disbursed to your account. But it may not be too late to get it - it will be refunded to you if you are eligible & don’t owe the school anything (or will be used to pay off your balance if you do). If you don’t need it for the past semester & want to keep the LEU, don’t pursue this … but if you do: If you had a valid EFC (that is, if your FAFSA was not rejected) as of your last date of enrollment for the academic year, you are eligible for the Pell if you complete verification within the required timeframe. You have 120 days from the last date of enrollment to complete your verification requirements, but no later than September 26, 2016. You will be paid based on the number of credits you successfully completed in each term you were enrolled in the award year. Depending on your last date of enrollment, you may be able to get your 2015-2016 Pell if you quickly submit your verification documents. At this late date, I suggest speaking with a manager to get this completed, so it doesn’t fall through the cracks.
@kelsmom Thank you so much for your detailed response. I was very worry that all the funds were counted against my LEU even though it was never disbursed to me. Thank you again for clearing this whole process up for me and no doubt for many others!
You can double-check by going to www.nslds.ed.gov. You will be able to view your Pell LEU when you log in.
