If you get one or two Bs and you don't get a 4 gpa, does it make it harder for you to get accepted into ivy leagues?

Yes it probably will. But it all depends on what school you come from. At a school known for its lack of grade inflation, it won’t be too big a concern. My sister had a B sophomore year and still got into Columbia ED.

So if your gpa is like 3.98, it makes a difference?

Don’t worry about it. It should be fine.

The rigor of your classes and your class rank are more important than whether you got a lone B because you took a more challenging selection of classes.

If you have Bs in “non-core” classes, ex. in Driver’s Ed and Health etc., are your chances decreased as well?

^ Possibly yes, if they are used to calculate your class rank. A couple of B’s even in non-core subjects could severely impact your class rank in a school where high grades are tightly clustered together – if it takes you out of the top 10%, a lot of top tier schools will be out of reach.

They do look at your schedule holistically, so if it is driver’s ed or something, they will know. Many schools recalculate gpa for core classes.

I might get a B for english honors and my school doesn’t rank people.
