Hi! I took the ACT a couple weeks ago, and I was wondering is a 33+ the cutoff score (when I say cutoff, I mean after someone has that score colleges no longer care) or is it 34+? I have heard either way for sometime now. Thanks! :)

34+ seems to be the really solid range

Look up the Common Data Set, Section C, for your schools. It will show the 25 and 75 %ile scores.

For the most selective schools as low as a 32 can be a good score and 33 can be quite competitive. For the “cutoff” you are referring to (when the scores after a certain point are rather similar) the range would probably be 34-36.

Thank you all for your responses! The reason I was asking was because I have heard 34 (and this is the score I have lol) but a 33 is 99% so thats why I was just a bit confused. But I see what you all are saying.

Yeah 34 is about as good as you can get…because, quite frankly, there is not much difference between a 34 and a 36 seeing as those scores are separated by only a few missed questions. So bravo on the terrific score!

“as low as a 32”

This is why the internet hates you guys.

Sorry, colleges do not see it that way. 34 is a great score, and you can get into any college in the country with that score IF you have the rest of the whole package they are looking for. But a 35 or a 36 still boosts your chances above a 34. And if there wasn’t much difference, more students would easily achieve those scores.
