<p>Generally, yes.</p>
<p>The exception is if someone takes a language test in their native language - then they really need an 800 to make it count.</p>

<p>Yeah, like for Math IIC or Physics, a 700 isn't going to look so hot.</p>
<p>Something that's just barely over 700 is not very good for the ivies. Try to get 750 or above. 740 is fair, but try to do better. </p>
<p>And like aquamarinee said, if you take Math II C you probably want 770+, and for physics, 800 is a must. (I don't recommend you take physics unless you've had AP Physics) Because half of it is AP physics, you can get about 10 wrong and still get 800. But if you get 780, that means you got more than 10 wrong, and that's not very good.</p>
