What is an acceptable SAT Math II score for Ivy Leagues?

Hiya

Sooooo… I’m a junior in high school, and I’ve taken the Math II 3 times now :(((((
My scores have consistently improved though, and my most recent turned out to be a 790
Unfortunately, the 790 turned out to be around the 80th percentile, relatively low. Doesn’t bode well for someone who will probably major in something math related.
I was wondering, all other things aside, if anyone thinks its worth it to take it a 4th time to get an 800 (I’m about 90% sure I could, it’s been 6 months since I last took, just unsure if it was worth it or not)
I was thinking about applying to Brown early, maybe a few other ivies if I can’t do Brown. Just wanted to get some other input.

Thanks

(First post yay)

Only on College Confidential would someone think that a 790 is an unacceptable score. You’re fine. Move on. Don’t take a 4th time. You probably should not have taken a 3rd time.

It is important to understand that for several subjects, the percentiles are depressed because so few colleges request Subject Tests, that the ones that do are the ultra selective ones. As a result, it is the high achieving kids taking the tests. No AO is sitting on the floor cross-referencing scores with percentiles.

The students that take a particular subject test are very self-selecting; if you thing the M2 percentiles are depressed, look at Chinese and Korean.

Also, math level 2 is taken by students a year ahead in math (precalculus / trigonometry in 11th grade or earlier), so that is another form of self-selection in favor of students who are strongest in math taking that test (as opposed to math level 1).
