Basically the title. I’m considering Brown as my uncle went there and my dad went there for med school (is that considered legacy?), and I assume that will help me. I also have a good gpa, extracurriculars, and should get good SAT scores. But what is it actually good at? Is it top in the country for anything?

Right now I’m considering some sort of science/engineering major OR some sort of English major. Odd, I know, but I like both a lot.

^^Brown doesn't offer a Business major. The closest thing to business is COE (Commerce, Organization, and Enterprise) or something like that, but it's for people interested in entrepeneurship, so that doesn't apply to all Business prospects.

hey, do i get to be the official authority on psychoceramics (i was a neruoscience and ceramics major -- no joke)? can me and josiah, like, be bffs?

yea, I've read about there Humanities and arts programs, their amazing! I'm a science-based person but on the side I love drawing. I think Brown will help me to integrate my skill of drawing with science, possibly through exploring the designing aspects of biomedical engineering, which is closely related to mechanical engineering, but mostly the construction of biomaterials. I'm so excited to explore this possibility and I love that Brown's curriculum will help me to find my niche in merging my skills in art and science!

superwoman, you might consider taking some art classes at RISD. Illustration classes (especially medical illustration classes if they're available) might be an option.

jerzgrlmom- really, hmm, maybe I should have applied for that Brown/RISD option...can I attend Brown and still take courses at RISD? Also, I didn't even know there was medical illustration courses available! Now I'm super excited if I get into Brown! That is so cool!

icebox4- Thanks! I'm definetly investigating those course options!

Brown isn't good at much.
It's a school which relies a lot on its Ivy League label.
If Brown wasn't called an "Ivy League", no one would be recommending it because while it is a good school- it isn't a great school.
Try Duke or Penn- schools which will actually prepare you for the real world.

Considering Brown's increase in applications (21%) puts it at the highest growth of any university/college nationwide that has competitive admissions, the 25k kids applying this year are laughing at you 174IQPartier.
