What is Catholic University like?

Catholic U is the only school I'm interested in and have yet to visit. I know it's in DC but that's all I know.
What is the area like? Is it safe? Is there anything to do?
How rigorous are classes?
What are the people like?
Is it a strict school?
Basically any info you have on campus life would be appreciated.

My son attends Catholic U and loves it. The metro station on campus makes Washington DC an easy trip (depending on where you’re going it is usually only 3-4 stops away). The School asks all students to get a Metro card and many classes are held at the numerous museums, monuments etc in the city. For instance the architecture students were assigned projects inspired by places such as Arlington cemetery, and other classes have met at the Holocaust Museum. The freshman orientation included a scavenger hunt in DC that the students participated in with their small groups. I think the school tries to help the students learn their way around so that they are comfortable in the city. My son and his friends enjoy going into the city to see bands at the many clubs, eating at a variety of restaurants and just exploring. He’s visited the Capitol Building, the old Post Office and the National Archives and we can’t forget the many Smithsonian Museums (the Smithsonian Museums are all free admission - not being from the area that was a surprise to me). He even picked up a library card at the Library of Congress. They’ve been to ball games and special events. All of this was done without a car.

The area immediately around the school is not too bad although it depends on the direction that you are heading. I think that if you are aware you should be fine. It is just like any other city school. The campus itself is very safe and I don’t have any concerns.

I can’t comment on the classes, people, or whether it is strict until I’ve spoken to him again to get his opinion.

Hope this helps a bit.
