What is easier for you?

getting a 5 on the AP exam or getting an A in the class?

in our school the 5's definitely easier and I don't think that makes too much sense

5 is SO much easier for me to get than A in the class.

Class = 90% average = A

AP Exam = much less than 90% = 5

5 on exam. You can get a 5 with a week's memorization depending on the subject and a little luck. Class = rigorous testing > hell

Class is so much easier. Our tests basically involve plugging in numbers into formulas... and grade is based purely on tests :D

A definitely. I mean you can mess up a test and get an A in the class. The AP test is one shot. It's do or die baby :p

murasaki- your teachers don't curve your tests at all?? That is brutal.

i take APUS, last quarter, 2 kids (proudly, including myself) out of ~25 got an A in the class. About 45% of the kids who take the AP test from my school get a 5. But, i go to a very competitive public school in NY

My teachers don't curve tests . . . except in my APUSH, class, and I often set those. :)

But still, although AP tests are do-or-die, one chance, consider the amount of problems that can be missed. I'd never imagine getting the same percentage correct on a test and getting an A as I could on an AP exam for a 5. A good amount of studying would make a lot of AP exams in my classes horrendously easy.

5 on the exam is definitely easier. At my school it's hard to get into the class in the first place and they sort of discourage taking APs (taking more than 3 APs per jr/sr year is considered crazy at my school). I know several people who've gotten Bs or Cs in AP classes and easily got 5s on the exam

The class is SOOOOOOO MUCH easier than the test at our school. People in my history class got 30-40% on every single test and still got an A average. In English Literature, though that class is actually really hard, if you have a B average, which I always do with trying my hardest, our teacher will let you do some extra credit in some form or another.

Almost everyone in our Lit class will pass the exam, but only a few of us have a shot at a 5. And in AP USH, barely anyone will pass because of aforementioned test scores, and a general laziness and acceptance of getting a 1 or a 2. I bet maybe 5 out of 30 in our class will pass. I actually cared and really hope I got a 5 on both, but it took weeks of hardcore studying and emotional stress to do good yesterday and the day before.

I thought it was easier to get an A in my classes. I mean, my teacher curved the grades but we had some rigorous testing going on so by the time the AP tests came around, we weren't too shell-shocked after seeing the questions.

I think I did really well in my CS test - maybe a 4 or a 5. And I pulled a barely-A in that class.

English Lang was just an easy class. So easy that I didn't feel prepared for the AP test. :(
