good evening all! i am very interested in studying history at UNC, but was curious what the program was like and if it was hard to manage work and a social life. is greek life super prominent? is it possible to balance the two? thanks XD!!
Greek life at UNC from what I have heard is existent but if it is not something you want to be exposed to you don’t have to. If you want Greek Life you can easily find it but UNC offers so many other activities and it will definitely NOT be shoved down your throat like other “state schools”. The UNC experience is unique because they have something for everyone in my opinion. Those not into that sort of thing will easily find other similar like-minded people
It is very possible to balance both. My daughter pledged as a freshman and maintained Dean’s list all year. My daughter is in a sorority at UNC and most of the members are pre-med, nursing majors or business and most are able to balance academics, socializing, and additional involvement on campus. There are fewer sororities than fraternities, but the sororities have larger membership. Greek life includes housing, meal plans, charitable works and athletics in addition to social activities. My husband and I were both greek at UNC while in pharmacy school. It is absolutely possible.
