What is it like as an ILRie at Cornell?

Hi everybody, I'm from California and I've been accepted as a junior transfer to ILR school at Cornell. May i ask that are there many transfer students in ILR? From reading some threads here, i noticed that ILR is a relative small college compare to A&A and Engineering right?
Oh..(sorry to bring this up but) I got into UC Berkeley Haas Business School as well and was gonna go there, but now I decided to come to Cornell because I'm thinking to get an MBA degree after graduation, so may i ask that is it common for ILR students to go into MBAs for grad school? How about the employment opportunities for ILR graduates?
Thanks a lot for any advices!!

"May i ask that are there many transfer students in ILR?" yes, ilr gives out alot of 'guaranteed transfer' agreements to freshmen who end up enrolling as transfers.

"From reading some threads here, i noticed that ILR is a relative small college compare to A&A and Engineering right?" Yes, ilr is more like AAP in size. You'll get to know most of the people that wander the halls in ilr, but you'll still take classes in arts and sciences or any other school if you want.

"is it common for ILR students to go into MBAs for grad school?" Yes, I know a bunch of ilr students who plan on getting MBAs.

"How about the employment opportunities for ILR graduates?" Among the very best at Cornell. Average salary is around $46,000 not including the sign on bonus. ILR graduates are heavily recruited, so no worries about getting a job or not.

Thank you so much for your answers to my questions! They're very helpful indeed. It's hard to get first hand info. of Cornell in my college since people are just so pro-cal..I mean Berkeley is a very very good school but in terms of campus and student life, cornell surely wins. Anyway thanks for the infos.

I think its around 1/3 go to get their mba, 1/3 go to law school, and 1/3 work? but ya ILR is great.

i concur with Figgy, and Figgy r u in ILR right now?

1/3 and 1/3 and 1/3 is the general "standard" number that is said on all of the tours, but the reality is more like half get jobs, 33% go to law school, and the rest go on to other graduate programs.

i'm currently in ilr

i will be one of the 1/3 that goes to law school.....

what IS ilr?

Industrial Labor Relations (that is the degree u recieve when u go to ILR). I think I may be the mba third...

right
but what do you do there

Thanks guys! I see where do ILRies go now. I heard that if ppl are planning to get an MBA degree sometime, they better take a non-business degree for undergraduate. Anyway approx. how many units we have complete for ILR core courses in order to graduate? I'm transfering about 72 units to Cornell, so do you guys think I can granduate in two years?

you wont be able to transfer all 72. The maximum you can transfer is 60. Brows the ILR website (ilr.cornell.edu) for information on required courses.

There's a pretty good amount of courses that ILR specializes in...so...I donno....
