since most people work for several years before getting their MBA, does anybody know if anybody from ILR has gone on to prestigious MBA programs? In other words, does ILR look good when applying for an MBA?

hm...so I guess not?

This data isn't monitored, it's not your undergrad that matters, it's where you work that matters.

alright, and from what I have read it would appear that ILR'ies get competitive jobs correct? and when kids go into business from ILR it isn't just HR? Finally, going straight into law school, ILR looks good for a prestigious law school correct?

yes, yes, yes

thanks! the thing about ILR is that I really want to study the subject matter, but I am weary that I will be restricting myself to some HR job...and because of my insecurities I ask all of these questions, but luckily people like gomestar are here to make me feel better.

you wont be restricted at all, stop worrying! It doesn't matter what you major in for many jobs, especially typical "business" jobs (ibanking, consulting, etc).

yup, you make a lot of sense. In the end, it is hard to go wrong with a Cornell degree no matter what it is in.

Indeed! Cornell is Cornell.

I know people that majored in art history that ended up at med school at stanford...

I know people that majored in math that ended up in business...

I know people that end up in law school with a philosophy degree...

Elle from legally blond got into harvard law school.

Don't worry....you can go into pretty much anything as long as u have a competitive GPA and a good LSAT, GMAT, GRE, or MCAT

Any good finance firm will teach you what you need to know, college is just a proving ground. Therefore, you can pretty much major in anything and be in a good position to get a good job after undergrad.
