Hi, I was accepted into a few boarding schools and I wanted to know what it was like.
What exactly should I bring?
What is the freetime like?
Is there anything I need to know?
What are the pros and cons?
What is it like living away from home?
Thanks! I’m pretty nervous
Hey, I’m a longtime lurker on this forum. I’m currently a freshman at a top boarding school, and just thought I may help. For me, my parents and I focused on warm clothes and stuff because I am from the south and was heading to New England. Neither I nor my roommate brought any posters so our room at the start so definitely bring decorations. At my school, anyway, the freetime is pretty good. I, however, am not as studious as most at boarding school so take that with a grain of salt.
Pros:
I learned a ton of independence, and am more confident, but at the same time more humble. It’s weird.
Access to a better education, more thoughtful people, stimulating discussion
Cons:
If you are close with your family you’ll probably miss them.
Just a few of the pros/cons
