Hi!

I was wondering how life is like at boarding school. Are the students friendly there? Are there a lot of cliques? How much homework do you have to do every night? What's your daily life like? I was just curious because the boarding schools in movies and books sound really fun.

Students are quite friendly & there’s not a lot of bullying or cliques at my school “Shawnigan Lake School” so I’m quite happy it gives you a stress-free social life so you can concentrate on the academics and athletics. It all really depends on the school that you are going to because homework differs from school to school but where I go to it wasn’t that bad you will most likely be able to finish it all in ‘prep’ if you don’t know what prep is it’s 2 hours of designated time for you to do HW and then after prep it’s free time. By the way what movies have you been watching because there are a lot of stereotypes? I suggest you read this article-----http://www.seventeen.com/teenmag/boarding-school-myths----- it will give you a good idea of what’ s really true and what’s not. Hope I answered all of your questions and I hope that you will become a boarding school kid because boarding school is loads of fun, your basically having a sleepover with your best friends every night! Oh and this is my schedule:

Life at boarding school is great in many ways, but JaceyLacey’s experience is a LOT different from mine. My courseload is tough. Most people are exhausted all the time because they are studying or running to sports or class. The dorms can be loud and most have pests of some sort. Classes are HARD. It is way more difficult to get good grades because there is much tougher competition, and if you were a top student before, know that the bar is raised significantly. There is no way I can finish my homework in two hours every day. I work through my free and get up early to get it all done and even then, sometimes it doesn’t. Saturday classes mean study hall and no going out on Friday night. Sunday there is also study hall which most people need. Rooms are small, showers are not great, and the food is nothing like home. I am sprouting wings from all the chicken. Like any school, there are groups and rumors and everyone knows your business. Also a good number of the students are on some sort of medication. On the plus side, you’re all in it together. Your friends will keep you sane. It can be like a party sometimes, but more often than not it is more like…school.

@JaceyLacey didn’t you just say in another post that you are a day student? Because when I read your post here I just shook my head at the alternate universe “loads of fun” and “sleepover party” comments.
So anyway if you just got carried away posting and you are actually just heading to boarding school, all I can say is get ready! Faculty band recitals on Saturday night may be in your future.

Life at boarding school is better than most things kids experience in life
