Dorm size? Things to do in Saint Louis? Where to hang out? etc

A lot of info available on those three questions. You can find some details on last year’s question thread. A few points:
Dorm size - go to the washu web page on residental colleges - it will give you the dorm size for each freshmen dorm and much more. None are large. My dorm is 160 freshmen.
Things to do in St. Louis - activities at the loop, activities downtown, Forrest Park, plenty of activities on campus - sports, music, clubs. Loop and downtown - eateries, music, sporting events.
Where to hang out - Dorm, South 40, DUC, the Loop, Frats (for parties).

The dorms themselves are fairly small in comparison with other colleges, but they’re pretty decent sized for the number of people they hold. The rooms themselves are relatively large and in good shape.

As for things to do in St. Louis, there’s pretty much whatever you want. They have sports (went to a world series game two years ago, that was great), clubs, museums, theaters, music, restaurants, Forest Park, the loop, etc.

First year or two, you’ll probably hang out in the South 40 most often, with all the freshman dorms. The loop is nearby and is a good place to go grab dinner. The mall is pretty close by metrolink, if you like to shop.

tl;dr I agree with onecot, haha

WashU has a TON of events going on all the time on campus… Expect about 5 Facebook event invites per day. Depending on where you’re from, you’ll probably have an opinion of St. Louis shaped somewhat by your upbringing. As someone from a rural area I think the city life is awesome. There are big name concerts and great restaurants and an easy to use metro system. If you’re from NYC or even Chicago, St. Louis will feel smaller than home but should still have enough going on to keep you entertained between washu’s course load. Read the other forums to learn more about specific aspects of washu’s social scene- Greek life, dorm life etc.
