What is my chance at LSA with slightly lower GPA?

I am junior - OOS – U of M legacy. I am well aware of average admission stats of 3.87 unweighted GPA and 31-34ACT.

I have not taken ACT yet but feel confident I will score 34. On diagnostic I scored 33 and all practices I have been taking, I have scored a 34.

I have good ECs and an excellent writer so I know my essays/application will be strong. I have also visited/toured the school already showing interest. Michigan is by for my top choice.

Issue may be my GPA. I take the most rigorous course schedule offered at my high school. I go to public high school that is known to be very competitive/difficult.

Freshman year: All As
Sophomore year All As and one B+ in Honors Math

Junior year: I am taking 3 AP classes and 2 Honors so most difficult schedule. I do have some very hard teachers and I anticipate that I may get more B+. I think I will end with 3 B+ and rest As

So — I am guessing that my Unweighted GPA (I know Michigan just uses A, B, C) will be 3.82 - my weighted will be 4.21.
This will still put me in the top 5-8% of my class.

Even though my GPA may be below the 3.87 average for Michigan, I will have strong everything else and be towards top of my class.

How will this affect my chances for LSA do you think?

There is no real standard in GPA. 3.82 at your school may worth 4.0 at other school. Your class rank and ACT practice score suggest that also. You should looknup the Na ian e data of your school.

Thanks billscho – I did look up Naviance data from my school. It looks like most with my profile are admitted; however, there are many students that apply to Engineering School in that data. There are few with high stats who were not admitted but I am thinking that those may have applied to Engineering School.
I am working hard to keep my grades up – the B+ I have right now are all borderline (88/89) so I am hoping that I can get one of them up to an A. If so, that would give me 3.86 GPA which is slightly closer to admit average.
