What is my chance?

My freshmen and sophomore year was not great so I entered my junior year with a 3.0. I am in my junior year and have taken Running Start with much better grades.

High School GPA: 3.2 (3.25-3.3 projected by end of the year.)

Community College GPA: 3.75 (3.8-3.85 projected by end of year.)

Along with this I am in many activities.

Team Captain of a Cyberpatriot team (computer security competition) and has placed fifth in the nation once, and first in the state twice. (competed for three years, captain for two.)

Invited to state for three different SkillsUSA competitions. (programming X3, Computer Repair once, Networking once)

Team captain of a First Robotics team where I programmed and drove the robot for three years. (competed for three years, captain for one.)

President of High School's TEConnections program, A program where we learn computer repair/networking then use that to refurbish computers for low income families in the community. (member for two years, president for one.)

Volunteer at the school district. I have volunteered at my high school and the local elementary school and I have ~100 hours over the years of non-regular volunteering.

Chess club for two years, no explaination needed for what a chess club is.

I have competed in PicoCTF, a hacking capture the flag for high schoolers and my team (which I was captain of) ended in the top 5% of ~2000 teams

I worked at a halloween store for 3 months as a temporary seasonal job. Not sure if work experience means anything.

My essays are nearly done already so I have months to get them ready.

I have not taken my ACT or SAT yet, but from my PSAT and such I expect to score reasonably high.

Your HS GPA is a bit low for the average HS applicant as the middle 50% is 3.64-3.93. However, your college transfer GPA is good as the average transfer GPA is 3.49. However, you still have a chance since you do have good EC’s.

As a transfer however, they are prioritizing those with 90 or more credits from an in-state community college and with all the prereqs for their intended major done.

I won’t be a transfer, Running Start students are still freshmen.

I forgot. Regardless, your college grades will boost you up while your HS GPA may bring you down a bit. Overall, you seem to have a good chance. Just do well on the SAT to impress them. If you don’t get in as a freshman, you will most likely get in if you apply later as a transfer, especially if you keep those grades consistent.

If anyone else can give their opinion, that would be helpful.

@duckingtoniii, It is difficult to estimate your chances because it will depend strongly on how many CC credits you end up doing. If you’ve only completed a few CC courses, Admissions is probably going to be focusing on your high school GPA, and that is not looking good for you right now.

However, your CC GPA is looking great. If you take a significant number of CC credits as part of your high school plan, and you continue to get these results, UW will probably be more focused on that, since work at a Community College more closely resembles the kind of work you will be doing in college (which I’m sure you already realize). I’ve heard that many Running Start students earn nearly 90 credits during the program, and I think this could work really well for you, given that you seem to thrive in the CC environment over the high school one.

What will probably help you a great deal is if (to the extent that it is possible) you take courses at your CC that are prerequisites for your major. Say you want to be a Computer Science major, if you complete the prerequisite CSE courses and do well, this will make you look prepared to succeed in your major.

The activities look pretty good to me. Hope this helps.

i will have about 80-90 credits by time i graduate

Well provided that you keep up the good work, I’d say your chances are good.
