how did you go from a 3.68 to a 4.75 in one year?

started working harder and took all but one Honors classes, and got all A's

Do you have Unweighted GPA or class rank or at the very least, a GPA averaged out over the 3 years?

That said, I'd lay pretty good odds you'd get in.

Sometimes I think people are overestimating how hard it is to get into UW. It's a public state college, and as long as you got hard classes (which you obviously do) and a decent GPA, it's not even a problem. Like... When they let me in, I found that UW sure is a great school, but NOT THAT HARD to get in. I'm a cocky slacker, I pride myself on doing the least work possible to getting to where I want, and it seems like I got in with the barest necessities.

lol i used to be the same way as you steve...i did the least work as possible these last couple years. it's not a good thing though so im planning on actually working hard at the uw. and i think you were pretty lucky. a bunch of my friends got rejected with similar/better stats then yours and they were in state.

Well of course I wanna do well in college. High school means nothing, so I did nothing. Errbody wanna be successful so yeah I'm not gonna slack off there. I just like to have some fun, meet some ladies, hit it, quit it, ya know, have some fun instead of studying for "high school".

And I've heard that "my friend that was doing better then you didn't get in". Well is the system flawed or what? Maybe I jsut got something that the others don't have, but I don't know that might be yet. I do feel like the smartest 5% in the nation, but maybe that's just me being cocky.

if you haven't heard, UW is going with the "holistic" approach to admitting its students. as a result, if you aren't a well rounded person, chances are higher of getting rejected. however, i'm assuming that you already are! :)

p.s. i'm applying to UW too. let's see what happens.

I think it's bull, I am well rounded, but how the hell would UW know that, I didn't put any of the stuff on my application, plus I have no positions at school, no clubs or nothing. You do well, of course they'll put you in. Those people with 3.7 GPAs not getting in probably have easy classes and whatever. I know a girl with a 3.8 who didn't get in, because she's in trig her senior year, plus didn't take a lot of science or no hard classes. Just cuz you have a high GPA doesn't mean you really worked that hard. Just chill with it, if you got some AP classes and your GPA is decent, don't worry about it... and if you have a freakin 4.75, then please PLEASE don't worry about it. I laugh when people with 2200 on their SATs and 3.9 GPAs worry about NOT GETTING INTO UW. I feel the same about this too.

What is the best college in WA for a history major, UW, Seattle University, Western, or Gonzaga??? Which of the these colleges is the best overall??

UW or Whitman

if this gives you an idea here it goes: I had a 3.4 GPA, the only 2 AP classes I took were senior year and I didnt take the AP tests. And I got in. My essays must have been damn good.

I've got the same exact thing as the last person, same gpa and same amount of AP classes, but I took the tests (after I got accepted of course) and I'm out of state. whoop dee freakin do

Steve,

Why didn't you go to Oregon or Oregon State?

I hate Oregon. I'm a big city person anyways.
