<p>Take the AirTrain to the subway, and take the subway to Grand Central (if you want I can spell this out for you, but the NYSubway maps are pretty clear).</p>
<p>From there, take the Metro-North on the New Haven line to Union Station in New Haven (about 100-110 minutes). You will be in walkable distance of campus, but if it’s after dark I would suggest a cab.</p>
<p>All of this would be around $40 off-peak for round trip tickets. One way, it’d probably be around $25.</p>
<p>Also, I should mention that there are a number of services which run shuttles between JFK and Grand Central for like $10-$20 if you are confused by the subway services and want a simple but slightly more expensive option. You could also taxi to Grand Central, but frankly that would be a huge waste of money.</p>

<p>if Yale is picking up all other expenses for your trip, which I’m sure they are, then I do advise getting a car service that takes you straight to the yale campus, particularly if you are flying in directly from Washington state. It takes way too much time to travel into NY and then proceed north to Conn. Good luck</p>
<p>I agree that you should take GO or CTLimo, rather than the train. You need to make an advance reservation, and call them when you are on the curb, and then you could be waiting for awhile until they arrive. You may also have to make several stops on the way to Yale if there are other passengers.</p>
<p>The only other option is to take a taxi or private car. I once had my D do this from the other direction when her flight out of Tweed was cancelled at the last minute and she needed to get to JFK right away. The cost was over $200.</p>
<p>Take CT limo which has a lower RT price than GO limo. They should accept a letter/invite from Yale if they ever ask for a student ID to justify the lower student rate which I last recall was $95 RT. The Grand Central/Metro North options listed above are complicated and a challenge with luggage. Assuming you have not bought JFK tickets yet, some have flown to Newark and taken Amtrak from the airport to New Haven which is easy and runs on a tight schedule and avoids the vagaries of the limo service timing. Son’s roomate liked this route but the Amtrak is pricier than the limo services and gets you to the train station in New Haven instead of Phelps Gate (Old Campus).</p>

<p>The cost for CT Limo is still $95 round trip. My son just took it from LGA on Thanksgiving break. Plus, I believe you get a 5% discount if you book online. The only downside is that they run approx every hour so depending on when you arrive you may have to wait an hour for the shuttle. Here is the Yale link for CT and other options.</p>

<p>P.S. If it’s on Yale’s dime I wouldn’t recommend the rental car option. Not only do you have to navigate your way there and back, you have to figure out where to park. I would opt for the shuttle which will drop you off right at Phelps’ gate.</p>

<p>be sure to check the weather report for Conn before you get to the airport! Another posters DD who was flying in to interview at YMS, was stuck at another airport for hours during a major snow storm and had to reschedule everything!.</p>
<p>Yeah, I don’t recommend renting a car. Last year my daughter visited for YES-W (for science prospectives) and since we live reasonably close we let her drive there. We’d never been to the campus and had no idea how hard it would be for a young driver to navigate the city, and most of all find parking for an extensive period of time. Turns out she parked in a lot that was ok for weekends, but permit only on Monday; fortunately she didn’t get towed!</p>
