we don't need to beat you up, you're doing it enough to yourself as we can see

This kid sounds a lot like me.....but a bit more ridiculous.

Splintercell, I highly recommend that you DON'T enroll at Cornell for your own good. I am being 100% serious about this. People like you never are happy here. I have seen people here at Cornell who forget how woderful school Cornell is and are still miserable about their choice. This is an honest advice, not meant to attack you in any way. Remember that choosing a college based on its name or how its diploma looks like is ridiculous.

I completely agree with you patlees88, but splintercell is so obsessed with prestige that i doubt he listens to you.

If you're so obsessed with "prestige", then why don't you get yourself into Harvard or Princeton and not bother going to Cornell? Your subsequent bitterness at being accepted into SUNY ILR SUNY is both poisonous and toxic, and not welcome.

Because Cornell has Ivy League stapled to its name and the OP doesn't feel he or she is qualified enough for HYP. Might as well go for the next best thing - it's still Ivy League.

Yeah, I agree with the posters above, you won't be happy at Cornell, or anywhere else for that matter, if your attitude is solely based around prestige and getting a job at an investment bank so you can work 80 miserable hours a week for quick loot.

We can only hope that splintercell gets accepted at the prestigious school he seeks. Cornell would be better off. Apparently, Splintercell is "fading into the background" on CC - which is a good thing for all of us. It's pretty obvious on facebook who this person is, so good luck to him. He just needs to think before he writes such insulting posts. Almost all of his questions could easily be answered by Cornell's website or by a telephone call. For the sake of all of us, we need to let Splintercell and all of his ridiculous threads fade into the background. Our greatest reward would be that he attends a school that he is impressed by and does not insult any students before the first day of school. Good luck Splintercell in finding what you want.

starts slow clap

Be on the look out for a male Bangladeshi in Ives Hall next year guys. Shouldn't be too hard to find considering ILR's size and demographics.

^good call. He will be minoring in econ and will be super competitive and really annoying. Apparently, it's obvious who he is on Facebook ( I wouldn't know). Someone else should verify that.

lol. I fear for this kid's future if he ends up in ILR. Guaranteed, he won't have any friends to hang out with. Splintercell, I really do think that you're better off going elsewhere. How about Vandy?? You were accepted there right? Vandy's economics program will give you a better chance to land a job in i-banking and people will be friendlier to you.

If he goes to Cornell, people will be nice to him and he will be fine - as long as he doesnt continue to insult everyone in the landgrant colleges and make ridiculous assertations (UMich thread). He just has to realize that he can find his own answers to questions and that when he needs to ask other people, he needs to think about what he's saying. His future is up to him, and his attitude. If he thinks ILR lacks prestige, then he definitely won't be happy and people will not want to associate someone who hates their school. If he does even a little bit of research, he'll realize the mistake he's making and could possibly come to ILR with the right attitude. All of the humor of yesterday was just too hard to pass up. He set himself up for it. I am just looking forward to letting all of these theads sink to the bottom of the board, out of sight. I'm sick of looking at his bashing of a school I worked incredibly hard to get into and look forward to attending. He sucks the fun out of it for all of us.

This guy is an incredibly insecure human being.

I just looked through ALL TEN pages of his posted threads and the sight made me want to vomit.

I heard you do not even get a degree since it will be a waste of paper, they just give you a pat on the back and say congradulations. If you wish you may bring a camera and take a picture as proof of graduation.

I am not 100% sure, so correct me if I am wrong

They don't even congratulate you...b/c you didn't go to the Ivy League part of Cornell.

I'm so not looking forward to graduating now....haha

can't believe I got myself involved in this....but I couldn't resist!!

Priceless!

Dear Uncle Ezra,
I was recently accepted to the ilr as a high school student. However, I am beginning to have doubts. Is it possible for me to transfer into the college of arts and sciences before the start of my freshmen year?
The reason for my doubt is that I want to go into investment banking and I though that economics would be more appropriate. Also, on the ILR graduation diploma, will it say SUNY or Cornell. Is ilr part of the Ivy League?
Finally, what are the recruitment oppurtunties in the ilr? Is it true that Goldman Sachs recruit on campus?

Sincerely,
A Concerned HS student

Dear New Student,
When you are accepted to a college at Cornell, you are accepted to that college and not to any of the other colleges here at Cornell. Therefore if you want to transfer to the College of Arts and Sciences, you will have to go through the process of transferring, which for Arts and Sciences, will require a personal interview, an application, essay, letters of recommendation from A&S professors and good standing in ILR.

Your other choice would be to take a year off and apply next year to Arts and Sciences and start as a first year student, but you also run the risk of not being accepted.

All of the schools at Cornell are "Cornell" and your diploma will say that you graduated from Cornell University. Cornell, and all of its colleges are part of the Ivy League, which is an athletic conference originally known as the IV League or League number 4.

You've been reading the newspapers and still want to go into investment banking?

wow, this kid is a train wreck. imagine how bad he'll be stressing out when he gets to college.

Or when he's working for the next Bear Stearns...

ugh, the Bear Sterns thing is horrible. I know this really nice girl who accepted an offer from them, I'm not sure what she's going to do now.

Tahoe - awesome find!

The prospect and allure of money in ibanking blinds many, IMO (and this is coming from someone who wants to go into business)

I don't think now is the best time to go into ibanking! My cousin works for Bear Sterns, and things don't look too good for him... and to think, just a few months ago, he turned down an offer from Morgan Stanley.
