What is the difficulty of these APs?

Calculus AB
Calculus BC
Chemistry
Physics I

If you have taken these APs, how difficult would you consider them? How much homework did you get per night? How hard were the tests? How much did you have to study for them? I know this varies considerably from person to person, school to school, etc, but I would just like to hear varying viewpoints on them : )

I took Physics C (mech and E&M) so I cannot comment on physics 1 but, having score a 5 on all of the other exams I would say that the most difficult in terms of content was calc bc. Chem would be next and AB would be last. For homework BC was about half an hour every other day, chem was 15-20 a night (unless lab which took another 30-45 minutes) and AB was about 25 minutes. I personally didn’t find the tests very hard but I believe chem had to lowest 5s rate which would suggest it was the “hardest” test (though this all depends on what YOU are good at). I never studied for any of my classes but the people who did typically did 1 or 2 hours per week with ad additional 2 hours before tests.

I’ve only taken AP Chemistry, so I can’t comment on the others. My teacher didn’t really give required homework so I never really did it lol. I studied like 2 hours for each chapter test and did really well on them since my teacher’s tests were extremely easy and exactly like her study guides. As for the AP test, I ended up getting a 4 which was surprising because I literally thought that I had gotten a 1 after taking it, but the curve is really generous. (For a lot of the short answer questions, I just wrote down every single piece of information I knew about the subject haha)

Overall, I think that if you want to do well in the class/test, focus on learning from all the labs that you do (we did like 12ish) and work hard on the lab reports. My teacher was meh especially since we didn’t even cover the information needed for 2 of the short answers on the ap test, but I hope you have better luck!

I never took Physics I, I took Physics B.

However, I would rank it as
Physics B
Chemistry
Calc BC
Calc AB

My Physics B class was easy and my teacher was not so good, but because of that I thought the test seemed insanely difficult and I ended up getting a 4 (I have never went into a test feeling that unprepared before haha). AP Chem probably had the biggest workload; we had homework every night and the lab reports were pretty time consuming, and I remember studying like I was possessed in the 2-3 weeks leading up to the AP Chem exam. Of course, that paid off with a 5, and the exam didn’t feel very difficult because I had studied so much.

Calc AB was just a joke for me. BC was more difficult, largely because of the series unit.

First of all, I don’t see the point of taking both AB and BC, but to each their own.

I have a thread for what I did for AP chem http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/high-school-life/1803527-my-hs-ap-classes-so-far-what-i-learned.html#latest PM me for more info.

Many schools teach this in sequence; AB topics one year and BC the following year.
