As with most of the horribly-nervous-about-college but too-cheap-to-pay-$7 population, I recieved my AP Scores in the mail this past weekend. Overall, I've had a great run at AP's, taking Human Geo, Art HIstory, Euro, APUSH, Chem, Calc, English (Composition, I think), Psych, Gov through the school and self studying for Chinese, Macro, and Micro. I got 5's on all of these. However, my parents are flipping a ***** about the one I didn't get a 5 on, Spanish. Honestly, I could've worked harder and gotten a somewhat decent score. Instead, I got a 2 on it. If I am aiming for a HYP level school, how will my Spanish score impact me?

Also, I am taking Spanish IB next year. Could that be used in an excuse for not reporting that grade?

^ That’s all there is to say about the subject. I say report it anyways - reporting a bad grade is better then holding it and making them think you’re trying to hide info from them.

In that A for Admissions book didn’t the lady say that not reporting an AP score is the same as not taking it (in the eyes of the colleges)? Or am I mistaken?

Does that mean my A in APUSH won’t look so good since I got a three on the exam?
I’m a hard worker and I believe I deserved that A, but I am not a good test taker

Curious about this as well. My only non-5 is AP Computer Science, which I got a 4 on. (I’ve taken 6 other tests). I’m pretty disappointed, but that’s not to say it wasn’t expected.

If you are not a good test taker, How did you get an A in the class?
That AP exam only tests history knowledge, which you should have covered in class (and seemingly you did well in absorbing).

@fresh101: We did a lot of projects, essays and in class discussions that counted toward our grades as well as the tests, which I averaged a B on. I came out of the exam confident and thinking I got a five and was shocked at my three. The same thing happened to two of my friends as well

Haha that’s great. I took several AP’s this year and got all fives, except a 2 on Spanish as well.

I also took SL Spanish this year and can safely say that test was much much much easier than the AP test. If you’re taking IB HL Spanish, then all I can say is good luck my friend. From what I understand that test is awful.

@GymnastKaori - A three is not as good as a four/five, but it’s still a passing score and really, AP scores aren’t that huge of a deal. If you want, have your GC mention that you’re not that good of a test taker.

@Nikkor50mm - No, you’re fine. Don’t worry about it.

No, it will not be the deciding factor. Period. I promise you.

I’m pretty sure that admissions is going to look at all of your 5s and be impressed. They’re not going to toss out your application for one AP ‘2’, particularly in a subject area that is known to be difficult for those who are not 100% fluent.
