What is the EOP program at SBU like? I'm nervous.

thats fantastic gf1025! update me if your brother decides to go to the eop program at stony brook. we could be friends haha

greentea, I’ll definitely let you know! :-)

They said that if you applied to eop than they will still consider you for regular admissions. Is it possible to get accepted into both eop and regular?

No. You’re considered for EOP academically first, and if you’re academically qualified, then we ask for financial documentation. If you’re overqualified for EOP, you get bumped into the regular pool.

Chris

When you graduate, do you graduate along with the rest of the graduating class of that year or does it stand out that you’re an eop student? I’ve found photos of eop graduation. I mean can’t we graduate like any other student without anything that would make us stand out?

Several programs, like EOP, have specialized ceremonies in addition to the main one. You graduate like everyone else, though.

Chris

Ok so there is the ceremony for the entire graduating class of that year and a separate convocation ceremony? So what if you’re an eop student but is majoring in bio? so along with the commensment ceremony with the entire graduating class of that year there will also be a convocation ceremony for eop students, bio majors, engineering majors, health science majors etc? I guess what I’m saying is, since I have no idea what will happy in 4-5 years if you’re an eop student, you are able to attend the commensement ceremony of that year but also need to attended the eop convocation and the convocation of your intended major?

You can attend as many or as few of the ceremonies as you want, but you’ll want to attend them, because you’ll have earned it! (And there’s usually food afterwards.)

Hi Chris, I logged into my SOLAR account and found out that the home page to do list says Student’s W-2 Form is not received for the EOP Program. I’m confused because don’t you send this form if you’ve filed the Student 2014 Federal Income Tax Return? And in my case, I am not filing the tax return this year. I’m panicking because the priority deadline is March 1st and it’s the only thing missing from my EOP supplements.

Hard to say without checking your file. Call Financial Aid directly at 631-632-6840.

Hi Chris. When will the EOP applicants be notified whether they were accepted or not? All of the documents have been sent.
Thank you.

Typically mid-March.

Chris

@sbuadmissions thank you

Hey so some new tabs have started appearing on my solar account. Tabs like financial service, for new students. And when I clicked on the eop/aim accept/ decline. It said that it hasent been offered. So does that mean they didn’t come to a decision or already rejected me?

There’s also a thing about new student preference that I got. And it said “welcome to stony brook university!..” But they said that they didn’t offer me the eop program so does that mean they haven’t accepted me into eop yet and my app is still in progress or… I don’t know. I’m so confused because I didn’t get a clear rejection or acceptance letter.

I have a 3.9 UW GPA and 1230/1600 or 1830/2400 SAT. Am I academically qualify for EOP?

@snoogleki‌ - No.

Chris

Hi Chris, I got accepted into the Eop program. I want to know is there any specific things that eop students have to do compared to normal students. Also are the tuition fees reduced for eop students? What are some benefits for eop students? Thank you!

Tuition and fees aren’t reduced – it’s the standard costs – but EOP students typically qualify for a good amount of financial support. The key benefits are the summer program, where you’ll spend a few weeks taking courses (for credit!), making friends, and adjusting to college live, and the advising and counseling community that are there for EOP students. It’s an incredible program.

I got admitted into the eop program at Brockport and was super excited. What concerns me is that I will be given the terrible dorm rooms and meal plan and being so far from home I’d want it to be a decent even though it shouldn’t be that big of a deal considering I’ll be get much financial aid. I just wanna know what exactly I’m getting myself into?
