I need to settle a bet. My friend says that is 90/10.

Your friend is close. 19:1.

HAHA 19:1. That was good... almost had me :p
Last I heard it was something like 69/31? Am I wrong?

-Oren

this is about right. it fluctuates. in my time here it's been a little better than 66/33 and it's also been something close to the number you quote, if i recall correctly. one frosh class can budge the number a fair bit.

Actually, in a class like Ph12 (sophomore phys class for phys majors), i had fun counting the ratio with a friend and it turned out to be as bad as 30:1 once. And we weren't even counting the prof! The end result is that guys get a bit less attention than they deserve and girls get a bit more attention than they would have someplace else. It's funny to point at and laugh though!

wow, that's so many boys....!

I don't think I mind that so much. :)

Well, it's also a lose-lose situation in many ways. Quite a bit of attention is undesired. While there are some perfectly normal guys around, many guys develop some strange... tendencies let's say.

In my case, I had mostly guy friends in high school, but I got here and befriended about as many men as ladies. In a sense, I try to recreate the healthy 50-50 ratio, and spend equal amounts of time socializing with each gender.

Yes. I believe there was a column on it in a recent issue of the newspaper (though I'll bet it shows up a lot.)
