<p>does it mean if students were ranked in order of sat scores, the 50% would have a range of so and so score
which is hard to fathom considering how large the ranges are</p>

<p>Middle 50% CR: 650-750</p>
<p>That would mean that 25% of admitted students have at or below 650, 25% have at or above 750, and the remaining 50% have between 650 and 750.</p>
<p>Rule of thumb: If you’re an unhooked candidate, you should meet or exceed the stats at the upper 75% percentile to have a real shot. If you’re hooked (legacy, athlete, URM), you should still at least be able to have stats close the lower 25% percentile to have a good shot.</p>
