what is the National Hispanic Recognition?

does anyone know what is the National Hispanic Recognition? how can u receive the award and does it benefit you when applying to college?

thanks

It is as a result of the junior year PSAT. Yes, it does impress colleges. Some give very nice scholarships for National Hispanic Scholars. Many of the colleges giving scholarships to National Merit Scholars (see the list that someone has posted in the financial aid section of CC) also give money to National Hispanic Scholars.

Northstarmom said it all. You must have identified yourself as Hispanic when you took the PSAT. You used to be at least 1/2 Hispanic, last year is was 1/4. There is a minimun gpa also. Last yr the students were notified in Oct, the CB website said an earlier date. I have the phone # somewhere if you need it. We found out when Iowa state sent us a letter telling us they were sure we were proud of our son. I called CB the next day and they verified it.

You definately know that you are a National Hispanic Recog. Scholar if you receive a ton of info from Texas A&M :)
