What is the proper format? Heading? Title? Size? Font? Spacing?

What is the proper format for a common app main essay?

Title: Yes or No - Middle alligned?
Size? 12?
Spacing: Double? Single? 1.5? 1.15?
Font: Times New Roman? Ariel?

Anything else I shouldknow?!??? Thanks!!

This is what I did:
Heading: Name (full), High School, Birth Date, College, Prompt (write main essay, supplemental essay, etc.). 10 TNR Single Space. Right Aligned.
Font: 12 TNR Single/Double Space
Title: Optional, Middle Aligned, Bold, Size 14/16 TNR.
Margins: 1-inch all sides

Hmm, I didn’t put my title or my name at the top because it is attached to my common app. I did 12 point TNR, singled spaced, with a space between paragraphs.

i didn’t do a header/title either

font 12 times new roman, double or single space

All I did was a title (centered, 16), since it added impact to my essay, and the essay itself (justified, 11.5).

Font: Garamond. I hate Calibri and TNR.

if your school asks for a heading or a particular format, do it. umich wants a name/birthday/umich ID on every essay, and rice wants their essay double-spaced. if it doesn’t say anything like that, then don’t bother.

I sent all mine 12 TNR, double-spaced, like any school paper…

Warrented or not, I’m suddenly feeling uneasy.

Ehh I just double spaced my essays in Times New Roman size 12 font and sent it in. Common App puts your name at the top as a header for every essay page, so I figured it was fine without me adding anything else. I also left my essays untitled since a titled piece usually means it’s “absolutely finished and perfect” and I know mine aren’t. Also, it might tip the AdComs off about what your essay is about and they might go “Oh great, another one of these.”
