Can someone just give me a brief overview of this program and some stats about those who were named Regent Scholars? Thanks.

Regents' and Chancellor's Scholarships cover Scholars' full financial need per determined by the FAFSA or $1000 for four years and offer other small benefits as well. The perks include a faculty sponsor for advising, membership to the RCSA (a R&C Scholar club), financial advising, and guaranteed housing for four years. As you can see, aside from the money, the benefits offered are nothing too special, so it's main purpose is to be an honorary scholarship.

I've heard anything from the top 2 to 4% of the applicant pool are invited to an interview and compete for the scholarship, and I believe the top 1.5% of the applicant pool actually receive it. Stats of recipients are all over the place, since national- and global-scale extracurriculars, awards, and other accomplishments hold some weight as well, and GPAs often differ between high schools.

There's approx 200 Regent's for each matriculating class... far less than 1.5% of the "applicant pool."
