What is the required GPA for renewing the Gold Scholar merit scholarship?

I’m a high school junior and I might apply to the University of Minnesota, so I was just wondering about this.

Do you expect that you will be named NMSF? Preference is given to National Merit finalists who name UMTC as their first choice college.

Just checked my daughter’s letter and there are no GPA minimums mentioned. Renewal requirements include being enrolled full-time, completing an average of 15 credits per semester, and maintaining “satisfactory” academic progress (no definition of what that means). Also must maintain consecutive term enrollment (i.e. not take any time off once you matriculate).

Hope that helps!

Yes, I do expect to be named NMSF (I have a 223 NMSC Index in New York).

Thank you so much, this is exactly what I wanted to know! According to this link:

it looks like “satisfactory academic progress” just means maintaining a 2.0, which is obviously not a problem.

True, @PersonWhoExists. Depending on what college you enter you might have to keep a higher GPA in order to be admitted to your major.

With your SI you are a high probability of NMSF as you probably know, even with potentially higher cutoffs for 2018. Very smart to be looking into these schools now. Good luck in your search!
