What is the SAT II?

Hi guys,

I'm kinda new to these standardized tests, so have taken the PSATs the PLANN test and others and I do know about the SAT which includes tests in reading writing and math.

But what are the SAT II?

the SAT II are 1 hour tests in a specific subject. so rather than just having one test containing reading writing and math, you can take this in subjects such as history or biology (and many others)

if you’re very strong in a specific subject, this test helps show colleges your strong points

SAT 1 and ACT are the “real” tests for the pre-tests you gave taken.
SAT subject tests test subject knowledge in certain Subjects.
They somewhat correspond with the AP courses, as they are issued by the same company. You have to answer roughly 60 multiple choice questions in 60 minutes in a subject of your choice.

SAT subject tests= SAT II
Commonly, SAT refers to the College entrance exam with 10 sections on Critical Reading, Math, and Writing.

Oh okay, are they basically similar to AP tests then?

^
Not really, no. They’re both made by the College Board, though.

Subject Tests:
Required to apply to some colleges
No college credit, as far as I know
Cost less than AP tests
No such thing as “SAT Subject” classes
Given more than once during the year
Highest score is 800
High school-level material
All multiple choice

AP Tests:
Not required anywhere as far as I know
College credit at certain colleges for certain scores
Cost more than Subject Tests
Have classes that correspond with the tests
Given in May
Highest score is 5
College-level material
Have multiple choice and free response questions

The STs can be used for placement/credit at some schools, and the ST material kind of aligns with some high school courses.
