I'm a junior in high school. The TAMU SHIP staff sent me an e-mail a few days ago inviting me to a program called SHIP and including a link to Summer Honors Invitational Program '10. It looks interesting and is free, but I don't understand what exactly it is. Is it a campus visit, a summer program, or something different? Additionally, what's the duration of SHIP?

SHIP is the most amazing thing! When I went it was two days but looking at the website it seems as though it’s a one day program starting at 9am and ending at 5pm. It’s more of a campus visit with a lot of people. It’s for high school juniors about to be seniors who scored high on their PSAT, usually national merit, national achievement or national hispanic scholars. You’re seperated into “color groups” with HIP leaders. The honors staff and HIP leaders talk to you about the honors programs, different colleges, traditions, etc and how to apply to TAMU. It’s a lot of fun, you meet a lot of people and the HIP leaders are college students meant to help guide you. I’m still facebook friends with my HIP leaders and they’ve answered a lot of my questions. I went last summer and although it is different this year, I would regret not going to it if you have the slightest itch to be an aggie.
