Describe the unique qualities that attract you to the specific undergraduate College or School (including preferred admission and dual degree programs) to which you are applying at the University of Michigan. How would that curriculum support your interests? (500 words maximum)

Is it asking why you want to go into your selected career path, or why you want to attend Michigan's school specifically? (As opposed to some other school)

Sorry if this is a stupid question. I think I'm over thinking it haha.

I suspect that what they are really asking is if you are REALLY interested in UofM or if you are just applying there to see if you can get accepted for the fun of it.

Show your specific interest in Michigan, and why their undergraduate program would suit your interests better than any others would.

That’s what I thought, thanks!

I had two sons accepted to Michigan (one 2015 and one 2016) recently. They both answered a bit of both of what you’re saying in their essays - ie. why they were interested in say Engineering rather than Liberal Arts, and then why specifically they thought Michigan was the best school for that interest. Be sure to explain why that is the case for YOU specifically - don’t just tell Michigan what they already know about their college (US News rankings, facilities they offer, etc.). Instead explain how those facilities would be critical to what you want to research or something along those lines.

Marciemi is spot on!
