As I previously posted, I only started to get to know UIUC because of its top ranking in engineering. Yet I value a college life more than the prestige. Current students: if you can tell me how you feel at UIUC, how the college life is like, why you chose this school when you applied, that will be greatly appreciated!

P.S. I just want to know if kids at UIUC have a social life, and how inclusive the atmosphere is. Thanks!

If you want a college life experience, UIUC will definitely give you that. Greek life is huge. Even if you don’t go greek, a social life is not something you have to worry about. Football team sucks but games are ridiculously fun, same with basketball except we don’t suck as much. Illini pride is everywhere. You can get into bars at 19 so nightlife is huge. Every other car is a cop. It’s a lot of fun.

Is UIUC experience a typical state school experience, or is it something different? It’s kind of confusing, since UIUC is so highly ranked in engineering, yet it’s not like private colleges. Also, how inclusive is UIUC’s atmosphere? Just out of curiosity, is it cliquey?
