What exactly is UPenn known for (undergraduate majors to be exact). I don't hear much about them, so I've only heard that their business and engineering is excellent. Are there any others? Thanks so much guys!

I know we have a great classics department, I’m currently doing a minor there. The science programs are good, but I think the best parts about the sciences are the expansive research opportunities you have.

Thanks for replying! By science programs, do you mean biology, engineering or others?

Penn has lots of top-10 and top-20 liberal arts departments. Just to list a few of those off the top of my head: Anthropology, Art History, Classics, Communications, Economics, English, History, Linguistics, Music, Psychology, Regional Studies, Religion, Romance Languages, and Sociology. Just as some examples.

Penn is also well-known for interdisciplinary studies, having pioneered several of those, such as its neuroscience program, Biological Basis of Behavior, as just one example (there are many others).

Also, Penn’s Nursing School is one of the very top programs in the country.

There is MUCH more for which Penn is known on both the undergraduate and graduate levels than just its business (Wharton School) and engineering programs.

I know we have a great engineering programs. But I was mainly talking about our Bio/Chem/Physics. I’m a BBB major and it is unique! 45 Percenter pretty much nailed it though!

Is it easy to fulfill premed requirements while majoring in a social science or humanities field?
