What is your Academic Index?

As a survey of the general intelligence of those on CC, click this link and post your AI: http://www.collegeconfidential.com/academic_index3.htm

it says 222 and 7 out of 9. Of course, I'm already in college so I guess it doesn't make a difference one way or the other.

I don't like it simply because it places so much weight upon class size, which really doesn't mean much. < And thus it's not credible.

To clarify: I did it twice, once with one class rank that I have right now, and another from an old hs (which those grades don't go into my current gpa).

One said I was a 6, the other an 8 and the number jumped over 10 points.
Yet I'm still the same person/applicant.

Your Academic Index: 211
AI Rank*: 5 out of 9
based on the following data:

SAT I Verbal: 610 SAT I Math: 610

SAT II No. 1: 720 SAT II No. 2: 700 SAT II No. 3: 700

Rank is 1 in a class of 504

I converted my predicted ACT scores into SAT(V+M)
Also, I predicted my other 2 subject test score fo Bio and Math II by putting a 700 for each of them.

Currently, I'm studying for the ACT.

It changes slightly depending on whether I use my exact rank or GPA.

Exact rank -- AI: 233; AI Rank: 9
GPA -- AI: 236; AI Rank: 9

Ai: 234 (9/9)

Your Academic Index: 231
AI Rank*: 9 out of 9

Lol. Too bad it doesn't mean anything.

AI:230 9 out of 9
SAT Verbal-780 Math 780
SAT II- 760, 760, 720
Class Rank- 3 out of 1000

Your Academic Index: 237
AI Rank*: 9 out of 9
based on the following data:
SAT I Verbal: 770 SAT I Math: 770
SAT II No. 1: 800 SAT II No. 2: 800 SAT II No. 3: 800
Rank is 1 in a class of 390

229, 8 of 9 (if I use my writing test as one subject)
226, 8 of 9 (if I don't use writing)

Verbal-800 Math-780
Writing - 790
SAT 2's: 770, 730, 700

What I don't like about the AI is the weighting that it gives to class ranking. If I list my son's class rank (estimated at 14/450 (because some students "game" the system to avoid a lower GPA)) it gives me an AI of 221 and 7/9. But, if I list him by unranked and GPA (over 4.3) it gives me an AI of 232 and 9/9. If this is accurate, its no wonder that so many High Schools are doing away with class rank.

Once 8, modified my SAT II score by 10, then jumped to 9

Academic Index is pretty much useless if you go to private school or even a small public school or for that matter a public elite.

It relies too heavily on class rank/GPA. If you enter your disgustingly high GPA from a school where 15 kids tie for Valedictorian, you're going to get a misleading number.

Only big state schools use AI. A kind of AI is used for athletic recruiting. Otherwise, IT DOESN'T MATTER.

Sklog_W: 222 (7/9)

westsidewolf1989: 230 (9/9)
J.Shi: 237 (9/9)
sishu7: 229 (8/9)
Myarmin: 224 (7/9)

Well I got 227 - 8, but applications were a long time ago :P good luck y'all

225 8/9 if rank
237 9/9 if GPA

215 5/9 if rank
230 9/9 if GPA

sigh... competitive school...

215 5/9 with my unweighted rank, but my counselor is mentioning that I would get a big boost if we weighted, so per A is for Admissions, I'll be counted as a 6. (or if schools only use 2 SAT II's, also up to a 6 then)

If it matters - that'll be good. If it doesn't - then who really cares, hopefully I'll get in.

hi.. ummm which colleges use this? ivy league schools or what, sorry i am just confused? big public schools? or... what

thanks
