What is your current UW status?

@carusok - I was at WiSE too… Whoaa! Anyway, yes, and if I remember right, last year (or the year before) they had only 19,000 applicants… a large increase in people vying to go to UW.
Also, for those looking to enter the Computer Science via Direct Admit, their admissions officer says that they have not even started to look at applications yet. Those letters will come out around late March to early April.

@BubbleTeaChibi - yes, it’s true. I’ve contacted the CSE Direct Admit people and they say they’ve been quite busy, especially since they just got a stack of applications from undergrads (apparently they do both direct admit, accelerated, and regular admissions for CSE). I’d say to just hang out for now and hope a letter comes, and apparently 25% of freshman applicants will get a CSE major through Direct Admit! Also, if you have/or are taking Calculus and Physics, they really like that. crosses fingers

): i think i just got rejected… my status (changed 2/19) says that “We have received all materials required to review your application. Your application will remain in this status until decisions are finalized. We will inform you by postal mail when a decision is made.” but then there’s nothing that says about the transcript loading thing… i feel crushed ToT …

@sunnybaNANA did you try to upload unofficial transcripts? by default you myuw page doesn’t have the link to upload unofficial transcript. you have to either customize your myuw page or use the link shared somewhere here on CC.

Don’t you have to wait for the status to say “We have reviewed your application?” Mine still says recieved… But I asked my friend who got accepted, and she said later her status said “reviewed” and only in a matter of days, she got her acceptance letter.

I’m on the same boat as you are… I really hope I can get in :(

Yes, the status has to be ‘we have reviewed your application’ Dont give up hope yet! =) They’re planning to admit another 6000 people and put some on the wait list, so don’t be :(!

so what is this whole unofficial transcript thing? I’m really confused…so if it doesn’t load it means that I didn’t get in. I applied by Dec. 1st and My status says that they have received everything and that it’s awaiting review…but that was last updated on Nov. 30th. How come some people who didn’t apply till mid december or jan have already found out?

People who have gotten in: Are you all Washington residents? Maybe they tell those first? I’m from the east coast so do you think that might have to do with it?

Rothmane, our son’s in the same boat as you. Maybe his GPA/SAT weren’t high enough for OOS. We told him that’s ok. You make the best of where you you’re at. Good luck to you as there may still be a chance of acceptance.

Likewise – D is OOS and probably a borderline candidate – she has been in a holding pattern for a while. I can understand that U-Dub admissions has a tough job to vet all the applications to be fair and make sure they get a the right number of admissions, esoecially with the uncertainty introduced by budget cuts, the economy, etc. Does not make it any less anxiety inducing for parents and students though…

This is how the timeline should go:
-Applicant submits application
-UW receives application, mails out myUW account set up information
-Applicant sets up myUW account
-STATUS #1: “Awaiting initial review…”
-STATUS #2: “We have received all materials…”
-STATUS #3: “We have reviewed your application…”
-1-3 days after Status #3, if you open the unofficial transcript link and something shows up with Name, School admitted into (Engineering, Arts and Science, etc), Student ID, it means you are accepted.
-Depending on how far you live from the UW, if you are accepted, the letter should come perhaps within a week. If you have been waitlisted/rejected, you probably will not find out until Late March/Early April

If you are still at status #2, the unofficial transcript will not load.

I hope this helps! A lot of my friends (although IS and they don’t feel like a borderline applicant) haven’t heard back and are stuck at the ‘we have received all application materials…’ status) are very, very stressed out. Good luck !

what is OSS?

So do you think that it’s a bad sign that I haven’t heard from them yet? Or do you think that there is just so many applicants that they are going through the applications randomly and aren’t paying attention to when they were sent in?

@rothmane - OOS is out of state
I think there’s been an overwhelming number of applicants, and if they were ‘infamous for being not organized’ in the past years… i shudder to think what they’re going through right now. Remember, they still have another 6000-ish acceptance letters to send out.

Also, to answer your question if everyone was instate or not, I know a few out of state people who got into UW in early January.

You’d think the people who turned in their applications early would get it reviewed before the people after them. But for whatever reason it seems the ones who turned in their applications in January get priority. So much for the “priority deadline”.

Don’t worry guys. I sent in my application before the priority deadline and I just got my decision a couple of days ago. It all has to do with the luck of the draw. My status was on “Your application is awaiting review” for about a couple of months. And the it changed to “We have received you application…” Then a few days later it changed to “We have reviewed you application. We will inform you by postal mail when the decision is made.”

I think it all depends on the luck of the draw and its really unfair that people who try their best to submit their application before the priority deadline have to wait longer than some who applied right before the final deadline.

Just keep faith and don’t stress too much. Good luck to you all! :)

We have reviewed your application. We will inform you by postal mail when a decision is made.

That is my current status. However I see nothing about an “unofficial transcript” Does someone have the link for that? Ahhh I’m so nervous!!

limabean22, Here is the link to unofficial transcript. Be sure to login to myuw.washington.edu with your UW NetID first. Good luck!

Okay! I got my unofficial transcript to load! It has high school subjects I took, SAT scores, and an ID number. does this mean that I’m in??? haha sorry if too many people have already asked, I’m just flipping out:))

and thank you maxxwell!

Contratulations limabean22! Welcome to Seattle.
