^ ya same- Nov 25th for me, I’m getting pist

i think it should be better once we past the deadline.
right now, uw is only accepted those who are outstanding in grades, scores, and essays.

Mine says:

Your application is awaiting review.

I doubt I’ll get my admissions/rejection letter anytime soon. I’ll probably get mine in March with everyone else. My grades are really good; SAT is average; and essays are pretty strong, I think but only super good applicants seem to have gotten in so far.

Finally Jan.11, “We have received all materials”…it had been sitting on “awaiting initial review” for like what, 6 weeks? Not sure if this has to do with the email I sent them last Friday, which asked about why it took them so long to give me an initial review…oh well, might have been just coincidence. But I would suggest contacting them if you are very concerned (like I was).

couple of questions

I just received the mail from admissions containing MYuw acc

and just made one.

my admissions status is currently :"Your application is awaiting an initial review. "

is this the first stage? and is the decision format rolling or not?

and also if the decision is posted on ur MYuw or only thru mail.

Yes and so far it has been rolling.

only thru mail so far.

Actually there was a note on the webpage that said status updated (on date…) and that date was different than the original date posted for ‘all materials received’. The letter came the next day. It was a subtle change to the webpage that gave a hint.

if u’ve gone to a US high school,

all you rly need is obviously the app

and standardized test scores right?

mine says as of Jan 8th that something is missing as well!
if i dont get an email tomorrow i’m calling! This is so stressful :/

did you talk to someone about it yet?

My status finally changed to “We have received all materials. We will notify you by postal mail after a decision has been made” -something like that… I’m nervous but so relieved that they have matched my SAT scores with my application :D

So… Exactly how long was the wait for the purple envelope from my status?

as of now, those who were well qualified got in 2~3 weeks.
some other ppl started getting theirs a little over a month.
for me, i’m a little passed 2 weeks and still waiting.

@pumpkins: literally any day now. =]

pumpkins mine has been at that status since Dec 8.

:( I really hope I get an answer this week! :)

Mine has that status since Dec 11. Hope to get accepted soon, so anxious.

what does it mean if they just asked me for my high school transcripts?! (i applied early action) bad or good?

@ ashley6266 Are you out of state? My understanding is that in-state applicants don’t have to submit high school transcripts and only final transcripts are needed before joining. I don’t know much about what out-of-state or transfer students have to submit.

Transcripts are not required if you attended a high school in the us, but the assumption is that you filled out the course grid properly. If you filled it out incorrectly or if the initial review didn’t get all the information it needed from the course grid, you could be asked to submit a transcript.

Note, this is my interpretation of why they would ask for an official transcript. I know one applicant who went to a US high school and was asked to submit an official transcript because, at the initial review, the reviewer didn’t have all the information. A phone call to the admissions office cleared up the situation and he didn’t have to send the official transcript.

Assuming you attended a US highschool, call and ask what is missing. May be you can clarify something on the phone. You only have two days left to submit all the docs, so call and clarify or just send it in.

I just checked. Apparently my status changed on January 8th from “Your application is awaiting an initial review” to “We have received all materials and will contact you by mail when a decision is made blah blah”

I’m really not expecting to get in, especially because I applied in late November and most of the people with good stats who applied around that time have received an acceptance! At least on this forum…

Don’t give up hope so easily. The Princeton Review says that “In 2005, UW committed to a thorough review of all freshman applications, abandoning the previous process by which a formula was used to rank applicants according to high school GPA and standardized test scores. The new holistic approach allows admission officers to take into account a student’s background, the degree to which he or she has overcome personal adversity, and such intangibles as leadership quality and special skills. …”

UW has an acceptance rate of 65%. Not all people you see accepted here on CC will end up joining UW. Good luck!
