Under the experience section of my resume, I have it categorized by a title that I've given myself (ie volunteer, EMT, etc), but what would you call yourself if you've shadowed a doctor? a shadow? shadower?

Stalker. (10 char)

^42

I'd just say that you shadowed So and So physician rather than trying to assign it a title.

shadowing a doctor is definitely not something you put on your resume

^ exactly, and it certainly isn't "experience" in anything. You can put it on your AMCAS, but thats about it.

Oh I totally missed the resume part. Yeah, if this is an actual resume, leave it out. I've only included things like this on applications for volunteer positions in medically-oriented university programs.

Dear Shadowie.

da shadower

if your shadowing is official, the hospital will often refer to you as an 'observer'...this isn't to say you should ignore the advice above

Why wouldn't you put it on your resume? People put some pretty stupid **** on resumes.

Underdoctor.

Assistant Medical Doctor or Assistant to Medical Doctor?

Absolutely not. You do not assist the physician in any meaningful way when you shadow. Furthermore, using either of those phrases might make someone think that you were a PA.
