I am not asking for a specific brand but rather what turns out to be useful.
(also what styles, colors, sizes. )

A medium size backpack of any color you like or any pattern.
If a backpack can fit a laptop and some books, it’s a reasonable purchase. If I can squeeze inside a container of take out food, even better.
You can carry any kind of bag you like; it kind of depends on how big your campus is and whether you’re going to live there. If you’re going to be a commuter student or your campus is big (aka, you need to take a shuttle from your residence hall to classroom buildings) you’ll want a bigger book bag in which you can carry more books and supplies. If your campus is smaller and you live on campus, you can get away with a smaller one and return to your room more frequently during the day.
Most students carry either a backpack or a messenger bag-style book bag.
